Page 1.43: Memory
Scent and taste can have strong links to memory… especially if you have a dog’s nose. 😛
This page made me a little nervous because of the lack of dialogue in the composition, haha. But I’m pretty happy with it! I’m not sure how readable the dialogue on the letter will end up being, but I think as long as I got across the idea that it’s a college acceptance letter, that’s mostly what I was going for anyway.
It’s a bit surreal sharing snippets of Romy’s backstory this way! This was definitely a fun page to do.

OH MY GOSH it is sorely rare that people depict this connection between smells/taste and memories! You did a wonderful job here without dialogue to depict what is going through dearest Romy’s head. Its a lot of memories, some good, some sad, some bad.
Thank you so much, Artie! Yeah, I was really excited to do this page because it’s a really fun concept to try to recreate visually. Food can have such strong ties to memory because of its ties to smell and taste. Romy just experienced a bit of an emotional roller coaster there, haha!
The Romy lore actually hits hard. I feel bad for her 🙁
