Art by ArtieNuki, a good pal ‘o mine! : )

The second guest art I’m featuring this month is a commission I got from my good friend, Artie. This time it’s an intimate piece between Romy and Boone! Remember when Romy felt too overwhelmed to accept Boone’s invitation for a sleepover at his place? You’ll be glad to know that they eventually DID have that sleepover! This commission was a reference to that passage in Book 1 of the comic, around the time I’d been working on it.

Boone is a character in SlumberTown for whom Romy establishes a very playful and sibling-like bond. Because Boone had a younger brother the same age as Romy, it was natural for him to slide into the “big brother” role in the time he spends with Romy. And of course, that means a lot of the fun things siblings do — comics, video games, and pillow forts abound!

Artie has been a close friend to me for many years now. Though I first became acquainted to his art through his old comics, we also shared a lot in common in terms of our passion for soft and cuddly intimacy and the love of protective big brother role models. I thought he’d be the perfect fit to bring this scene of the siblings to life.
