Residents
RESIDENTS:
Name: Romy Walker (Deadname: Rosemary)
Species: Retriever Dog (Toller)
Gender: Non-binary (she/they)
Sexuality: Aromantic asexual
Age (in canon): 24
Date of Birth: 2/29/1992 (Pisces)
Fun Fact: Knows a lot about space. Like. A lot. Charting stars is one of her special interests.
Romy is the newest known resident to come to Slumber. Anxious, awkward and terribly shy, she’s always had trouble fitting in and forging connections with other people. Despite her lack of self-confidence (she’s working on it!), her kind and hyper-empathetic nature has made her a rather good listener and therapy dog to the other residents in town. She gets overwhelmed and cries easily, but generally uses her sensitivities to try to understand and help others… including the mysterious unknown caller on the other end of her phone.
Name: Boone Pygmy
Species: Pygmy Goat
Gender: Male, with genderfluid tendencies (he/him)
Sexuality: Panromantic demisexual (formerly identified as bi)
Age (in canon): 33
Date of Birth: 4/11/1983 (Aries)
Fun Fact: Was a total theatre geek in school. Can sing and recite Grease by heart and is pretty adept at Shakespearean improv.
Boone is the “Founder” of the Lost and Found — what he considers his special responsibility in Slumber. He seems to constantly want to prove his usefulness to others, often finding creative ways to express himself and solve problems. His impulsiveness sometimes lands him in a bit of trouble at times though, unfortunately. Forgetful, overly dramatic and a bit childish, many people can only handle him in short bursts — but his closest friends know he’s a bold and loyal pal who always tries his best, and can be relied on in the ways it really counts.
Name: Sierra “Echo” Plasma
Species: Bat hybrid (Brown long eared-bat and vampire bat)
Gender: Female (she/her)
Sexuality: Lesbian – both women and non-binary
Age (in canon): 27
Date of Birth: 11/3/1989 (Scorpio)
Fun Fact: Pretty proficient in the art of astral projection. She’s able to get into a meditative mindset with relative ease.
Echo is known mostly by residents as the cool-headed and… fairly unconventional detective who’s been working with Dallas to solve the mysteries of the town since she arrived. She tends to be fairly secretive and cryptic, even among her closest friends — and due to her lack of patience for the “predictable”, her independent streak can often be seen as rebellious. She does, however, care deeply for her friends, despite her emotional barriers! Her objective and cautious approach often allows her to analyze before making tactful decisions.
Name: Sheriff Dallas Burrows
Species: Nine-banded armadillo
Gender: Male (he/him)
Sexuality: Bisexual, though this is something he’s never thought to explore
Age (in canon): 51
Date of Birth: 5/7/1964 (Taurus)
Fun Fact: He’s a cowboy (cowdillo!). He still retains many of his old ranch and wilderness skills, even in his older age.
Dallas is a seasoned detective who has been investigating the abnormalities of Slumber for quite some time, even before Echo’s arrival. He sometimes calls on the Lost and Found crew to assist in solving mysteries that pertain to their line of work. Whether this is because of the connection he’s already established with Echo (as a partner) and Boone (who was once his former intern) isn’t clear, though it’s likely. Dallas is down-to-earth, fair, and has a relatively mild disposition, which makes him a highly respected figure in the Slumber community.
Name: Lester “Les” Guffaw
Species: Spotted hyena
Gender: Male (he/him)
Sexuality: Straight, and… not particularly shy with his attempts at flirting
Age (in canon): 36
Date of Birth: 7/17/1979 (Cancer)
Fun Fact: Had to teach himself everything he knows. As such, he is known to give very basic (and seemingly random) advice to people he forms a connection with.
Lester is a bit of a brazen individual, who’s crippling and lifelong addiction to alcohol causes intense manic and depressive mood swings. Many residents in Slumber simply avoid interacting with him much, especially when he’s drunk (which is often). Les unfortunately was born into an abusive family from which alcohol dependency was always a prominent issue and has spent most of his life living on the streets. Despite how unapproachable he may seem though, he genuinely values comradery with others – and he’s especially good with kids.
Name: Regina Quagmire
Species: Green and black poison dart frog
Gender: Female and very feminine (she/her)
Sexuality: Straight and demisexual
Age (in canon): 42
Date of Birth: 9/24/1973 (Libra)
Fun Fact: Has a deep appreciation for arts and culture. Has volunteered often for charities and community-based projects.
Regina is primarily known as Slumber’s go-to fashion designer, as she’s highly passionate about the work she brings to the town. She has a good eye for design, and is able to tailor custom outfits for the residents in town based both on their personality and their species-specific anatomy. She can spend days getting lost in her craft, but when she’s not working, she’s prone to enjoying an aimable chat with just about anyone. The inheritance of wealth in her pre-Slumber life has oddly made her more humble – and much more charitable.
Name: Ed Gosling
Species: Canada Goose
Gender: Male (he/him)
Sexuality: Gay, but incredibly choosy
Age (in canon): 29
Date of Birth: 12/30/1986 (Capricorn)
Fun Fact: Extremely well-traveled. He’s been around, and considers it a bit of a bragging right.
Ed is a highly introverted, somewhat cranky goose who is mostly notorious for trying to leave Slumber on multiple occasions (with little success). He tends to be antagonistic toward others and claims that he generally dislikes people – so he tends to be incredibly picky about who he’s willing to spend time with. He’s connected with residents from time to time when the Slumber community holds trivia nights, but is generally avoidant of the community at large. While narrow-minded, though, he’s bookish and absorbs and retains information very well.
Name: Walt Weber
Species: Wolf spider
Gender: Agender, though he doesn’t have a term for this (no preferred pronouns)
Sexuality: This is largely unknown
Age (in canon): 83
Date of Birth: 8/8/1932 (Leo)
Fun Fact: Has always enjoyed pranks and practical jokes, especially with highly reactive victims.
Walt was always a bit of an anomaly to the people around him, even while growing up. He was always intentionally getting into mischief and seemed to care very little for the consequences (and still doesn’t!). In his older age, he’s become much more existential and struggles with the weight of regret that’s caught up with him on the thread of his own mortality. Walt is the oldest resident in Slumber (both in age and arrival!) and upon coming to Slumber, has regained a newfound energy and his old mischievous youthful spirit.
LOCATION UNKNOWN:
Name: “The Caller”
Identity: ?????
A mysterious number that’s been trying to reach Romy’s cellphone since the first night she arrived in Slumber. What’s unusual is that the calls have been able to come through, despite lack of service in the area. The identity of The Caller currently remains unknown, and Romy is the only known resident who has been able to establish communication with them so far. Though Echo was unable to discern a voice through the static of her phone, Romy was somehow able to speak telepathically to The Caller for a brief time. Whether it was just part of Romy’s dream or not is still a mystery, at least for now.
Name: Dr. Janus White Ph.D
Species: Stoat
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Asexual
Fun Fact: Enjoys speaking in riddles, metaphors and allegories. Loves the deep symbolism of poppy flowers.
Dr. White appears to be a rather eccentric and idealistic psychologist who used to work for a clinic called Shining Hope. She resigned from her former position when her proposal for a controlled dream environment was rejected by her supervisor. She appears to have an interest in understanding and manipulating the consciousness through REM sleep — for healing and therapeutic purposes, though doesn’t seem to handle topics of morality with much finesse.
Name: Dr. Seymour Marsh
Species: Capybara
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Gay
Dr. Marsh is a senior manager and supervisor in the psychology branch of the Shining Hope clinic. Janus’s former boss, who appears to be rather passive and soft-spoken; it can be inferred that he had a bit of trouble “reining in” the eccentric psychologist, and although he respected White for her passion and intelligence, it’s clear he didn’t really agree with her more experimental and fanciful ideas.
PEOPLE FROM MEMORY:
Name: Daisy Walker
Relation: Romy’s mother
Species: Retriever dog (Toller)
Gender: Female (she/her)
Daisy seems to have incredibly strong ties with Romy, based on what we know from her memories. She appeared to be a supportive, protective and comforting presence for Romy, both from a young age and well into adulthood. It’s been revealed that she was a single mother who lost her husband shortly after Romy had been born, and has worked several jobs in order to keep both herself and Romy’s heads above water through immense financial struggle.
Name: Smokey Walker
Relation: Romy’s father
Species: Hound dog (Beagle)
Gender: Male (he/him)
Romy doesn’t know much about Smokey other than what she’s heard about him from her mother. We can infer that Romy was quite curious about her father, often visiting his grave and listening to his old cassettes. It’s also revealed that he might have been a firefighter in life, and it’s quite possible that Romy might have genetically inherited her father’s longer ears.
Name: Dandelion “Dandy” Russell
Relation: Romy’s childhood friend
Species: Terrier Dog (Jack russell)
Gender: Female (she/her) with tomboyish tendencies
From what we know about Dandy, she seemed to be a friend who Romy was very close to when she was younger – but drifted from as they grew older and apart from one another. Romy associates the cookies from her hometown bakery with her earliest memory of meeting Dandy. They appeared to get along well, despite their opposing personalities. Dandy often comes across in Romy’s memories as being much more spunky and rambunctious than shy and timid Romy.
Name: Mr. and Mrs. Pygmy
Relation: Boone’s parents
Species: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep (father) and Pygmy Goat (mother)
Gender: Male (he/him) and Female (she/her) respectively
All we really know about Boone’s parents is that he seemed to have a bit of a bumpy relationship with both of them. His father appeared to pressure Boone to be a stereotypically masculine, strong and dependable son. His mother seemed to pressure academic success. Both parents – though it can’t be gauged which – often berated Boone for his inattention in church and goofy childishness among other things. It can be inferred that he struggled a lot to meet their expectations and often fell flat.
